Bulbs

January: Discard any rotting bulbs that you have overwintered

February: Check your bulbs in storage for sprouts, and plant sprouted bulbs and keep in a bright area.

Lawns

December: Remove last of leave before snow fall

January: Try to keep off of your lawn when the ground is frozen (unless it's covered in snow).

Roses

December: Hill roses

January: Heap snow around bushes for additional protection, especially around hybrid teas

February: Check your rose bushes for damage and prune back any broken canes.

Seeds

January: Start slow germinating seeds indoors, such as begonias and geraniums

February: Start slow germinating vegetables, such as peppers and eggplants and be sure to give all seedlings as much lighting as possible.

Trees and Shrubs

December: Wrap susceptible shrubs and evergreens with burlap for winter protection

January: Brush snow from evergreens to prevent damage, however leave ice to melt

February: Prune any damage done by storms, but leave "bleeders" suck as maples and birches until they have leafed out.
